MEET APRIL
“At the age of 5 I knew that I wanted to have a homebirth!
I grew up listening to my Mom tell the story of how I powerfully entered into life on the front porch of our home at the exact moment the sun began to rise up over the mountain. My Dad said “she sung me into this world.”
I guess you could say that the gift of trusting birth was born into my bones.
I didn’t even realize until decades later when I became pregnant with my own baby that my story seemed to be a diamond in the rough sea of horrid birth stories filled with fear, trauma, hospitals and interventions.
I was surprised when everyone wanted to tell me how horrible or scary birth was for them. I listened to the stories. And sat patiently (or impatiently), while everyone shouted their bad advice and told me to be afraid to be very very afraid!
And then…I birthed my baby peacefully at home like I always knew I would.
Although I had the most beautiful natural childbirth I had dreamed of, I now knew that there were so many women and babies who were missing out on this amazing experience just because they weren’t taught that there was another way.
They weren’t given the tools they needed to have a birth that was sacred, honored, and free from the restrictions and misaligned interventions of an over medicalized society.
It’s been my life mission to rewrite the narrative of how we bring our babies into the world. I assist families in calling forth and honoring the sacred transition of a mother and baby as a tremendous source of power. She is the portal of a new soul that she courageously births over the threshold and into its new world.”
